Egypt Luxor - Visiting the Temples, Tombs and Ancient Sites including Karnak, Luxor Temple, Hatshepsut, Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens.

We had a holiday in EGYPT - LUXOR and went on our own around Luxor's Temples, Tombs and Ancient Sites so we have a considerable amount of information on this with lots of photographs including some pictures from inside the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, Nobles and Workers areas showing the drawings. There are several pages and loads of pictures about our visits to Madinat Habu, amazing Karnak and Luxor Temple.

Luxor canal walk We have describe how to do these Luxor sightseeing days out/trips independently so you can use your own itinerary and enjoy the sites at your own pace - plus we have indicated typical costs etc. - it's surprisingly inexpensive and very easy to do your own thing at Luxor and much more relaxing.
During our holiday we also took a River Nile Cruise up that river to visit Qena and Dendarah - there are lots of River Nile and Dendarah Temple photos and a guide about doing this trip.
Incidentally there is also a fairly short walk described on the River Nile's West Bank where we wandered round several of the canals for a while - there is (somewhat surprisingly perhaps) lovely lush countryside and wildlife to be enjoyed in the area.

The following shows the various topics we have about touring and sightseeing Luxor and the Ancient Sites whilst on holiday in this part of Egypt:

Egypt - Luxor Situated alongside the River Nile in Egypt, the Egyptian City of Luxor is the starting point for visiting some of the world's most amazing archaeological sites. Our Luxor Egypt holiday and travel guides give general information about travelling to and around the City, costs, food, taxis, ferries, places to visit and so on.
Boats-Trains Photos Quite a few pictures of the various boats which we saw on the River Nile whilst at Luxor including ferries, small cargo boats and hotel cruise ships. There are also photos from Luxor Railway station of several of their railway engines, shunters and so on plus narrow gauge engines seen out in the cane fields on the West Bank.
Dendarah Temple Located a little way up the River Nile from Luxor this topic is about our trip up to see the ancient sites there including Dendarah Temple. We did this for once on an organised trip which meant a small cruise boat ride on the Nile - quite interesting. There are also photos of the various things we saw whilst travelling up the Nile.
Hatshepsut + Nobles On this day out we visited The Ramesseum, Hatshepsut and the Tombs of the Nobles - and on the way back to the ferry we stopped off at the somewhat forgotten Temple of Seti 1. This topic explains all about doing this trip and has lots of photos as well.
Karnak Temple Karnak Temple - situated up the road a little way from Luxor this is an easy sightseeing trip to do on your own. Karnak is just a short taxi ride (and remember taxis are quite cheap to use in Luxor) so if you come in on a cruise boat or staying at a hotel you can easily get to Karnak. Our guide shows how we did this and has loads of pictures from this really awesome ancient site at Luxor.
Luxor Temple Situated alongside the River Nile in the centre of Luxor, Egypt this Egyptian Temple is easy to visit whether you have arrived on a cruise boat for a short stop over or are staying on holiday at Luxor.
Madinat Habu Madinat Habu Temple and also the Temple of Ramses 111 are sometimes missed out by visitors to Luxor - this is perhaps a mistake - the whole complex is really interesting and one of the best visits we did whilst on holiday in Luxor, Egypt.
Valley of the Kings A guide to visiting Egypt's famous Valley of the Kings - easy to go there on your own rather than on an organised trip. There are quite a few photographs from the area and the various tombs.
Valley of the Queens+Workers The Valley of the Queens and Valley of the Workers. Equally easy to get too by just taking a ferry across the River Nile at Luxor and then taking a bus or taxi to the Ticket Office. The well known famous Egyptian ancient site is of course the Valley of the Queens however if you take some time to look round the Valley of the Workers as well it is much more interesting in our opinion.

Cairo Egypt - Travel, Holiday and Tour Guides including The Pyramids at Giza, Coptic Cairo, The Citadel, Egyptian Museum plus several day trips out including Saqqarah and the monasteries at Wadi Al Natrun.

Cairo - General Information about Cairo - the airport, taxis, travelling around and sightseeing, staying alive on the roads, eating in Cairo and so on.
Touring Cairo - this topic covers -of course- Giza Pyramids but also visiting Saqqara, Nile Barrages, out to the beautiful monasteries at Wadi al Natrun, wandering around Old Cairo and Coptic Cairo, The Citadel, visits and photos of the many mosques in the city plus a wander about around the Northern Cemetery.

Aswan- Egypt - Tour, Holiday and Travel Guide for the lovely and layed back southern city of Aswan - with information about hotels, restaurants, day possible trips.

Aswan - The City. This topic is all about travelling to Aswan, restaurants, hotels, costs, a monastery visit, boat trips on The Nile, seeing Aswan High Dam, Aswan Souk, Nubian villages plus other places to go and visit locally whilst on holiday in Aswan.
Our Aswan Trips topic covers longer day trips which are quite easy to do whilst staying in Aswan describing visits to Abu Simbel, The Temple of Kom Ombo and to Edfu.

Holiday Guide for The Red Sea Resort of Sharm el Sheikh - Egypt.

Sharm el Sheikh Ras Mohammed Coral Sharm El-Sheikh. This Egyptian Red Sea holiday resort of Sharm el Sheikh may be of interest for a holiday if you fancy some winter sunshine (and excellent snorkelling or diving). There are photographs from around the resort showing off some of it's beaches as well as the area itself and also information on some of the other things you can do whilst on holiday at Sharm.
One of the trips you can do whilst staying at Sharm is go into the Sinai Desert - we describe our (extremely cold) night-time walk up to the top of Mount Moses/Mount Sinai (deep in the Sinai desert) to see the sunrise - a really amazing and scenic experience. Following this we returned back down the mountain and had a visit and tour around St Catherine's Monastery.
